I began my blog early last year with a serial that attracted some interest. This is how it began.
“I’ll get the coffees, and you sit down.”
Eleanor found a table in the corner, with low comfy chairs. She took off her coat, hanging it over the back of the chair, dropping her bag gently onto the floor beside the chair, and sat. Chrissie came over with their drinks, placed them onto the table before taking her coat off and sitting.
“I don’t understand it,” she said as she sat. “I really don’t. What do you get out of it?”
Eleanor smiled. This was becoming a regular feature of their meet-ups.
“How about you? What’s happening in your life?” Eleanor countered.
Chrissie paused for a moment, and then began to tell Eleanor about her current relationship: Eleanor reckoned that this one would be lucky to last into next week, judging by Chrissie’s past record.
Eleanor let Chrissie carry on, nodding at the appropriate places. This was better than the inquisition.
A phone bleeped; Eleanor retrieved her mobile from her bag, and read the message. She smiled to herself, and then realised Chrissie had stopped speaking, and was looking at her.
“It’s him, isn’t it?”
Eleanor just nodded, bracing herself for a renewed onslaught.
“Aren’t you going to get your stuff and run off?”
“Not just yet.”
Eleanor slowly took a sip of her coffee.
“But how can you always be at his back and call? Why do you do it?”
Eleanor took another drink, and put her coffee cup down.
“Because he’s my Master.”
